Croatian National Theater

Built in 1895 by Hermann Helmer and Ferdinand Fellner, both Viennese architects, the Croatian National Theatre sits at the beginning of the "green horseshoe" in Donji Grad. It was officially opened by the Emperor Franz Joseph I on 1894. The imposing yellow structure in Neo-baroque and Rococo style is a landmark in the Lower Town. The interior holds "The Well of Life" by Ivan Mestrovic and artworks by Vlaho Bukovac.
