The original Opernhaus building was highly criticized during its inauguration on 25 March, 1869 but fulfilled the beatification aspects to the fullest. The building was designed by A. Sicard von Sicardsburg and decorated by E. van der Nüll. During the Second World War, the building was destroyed. The State Opera was then, shifted at the Theater an der Wien and at the Volksoper. After end of the World War, the building was re-modified. Now, the façade of the building illustrates Renaissance arched style and the loggia illustrates the public character of the beautiful building.
Currently, members of the Vienna Philharmonic society take care of the management of the Vienna State Opera. Members of the society however are all recruited from its orchestra team.
