Aside form being the home to the Vienna Philharmonic; it is also home to a historic organ which was installed by the Austrian firm Rieger in 1907. It is forty-eight meters long, nineteen meters wide and eighteen meters high. It has a seating capacity of 1,744 and has room for standing audience of 300 people. The Vienna’s New Year’s Concert is held in this place every January 1. It has been through many renovations since 2001 and many concert halls were added. It is so popular and famous that it has been the object of the world’s most famous bullion coins: the Vienna Philharmonic coin. The coin is made of pure gold, 999.9 fine (24carats). The coin is issued every year, with different values, sizes and weights.
