St. Stephan's Cathedral, the Stephansdom, is 107 meters tall and 34 meters wide. It is one of the most important Gothic buildings in Austria. A few parts of the Romanic part are still existant. Interesting fact aside: No sacral building in the former Empire of Austria-Hungary was allowed to be build taller than the South Tower of the Stephansdom. The South tower is home to 18 bells, of which 13 are working. The very well known Pummerin, the second-largest church bell in Europe, is at home in the North Tower. This church bell weighs more than 20 metric tons and can be seen on a tour through the north tower.
