Leopold Museum


Leopold Museum Vienna is one of the finest museums ever built in the country. It is home to various art paintings and other memorabilia. It is the place to be for art aficionados and people who want to be part of the artistic class that Vienna has to offer. The paintings and other art crafts have been around since a long time ago. It used to be a private collection of artworks from Rudolf and Elisabeth Leopold but now, it is opened for the public viewing on September 22, 2001. Today, the museum ranks as one of the greatest international museums.


The museum offers guided tours, virtual tour and exhibitions. There are many different kinds of exhibitions done in several much awaited events. Here, one can experience the wealth of the Austrian Cultural History. The major works by Gustav Klimt and Oskar Kokoschka is the most important contribution of Austrians to world art. It is surrounded by the fascinating works by the painters Richard Gerstl, Anton Kolig, Albin Egger-Lienz, Herbert Boeckl and Alfred Kubin.


Guided tours are offered either through an audio guide which can be played through German or English or through a group tour which they offer on prior arrangement. Prior arrangement means booking earlier in time. The tour guides will explain the highlights of the museum as well as a brief history and information worth knowing. There should be a maximum of 20 persons per group. The tour is available on major languages.


Their shop is the perfect place to find a great collection of postcards, catalogues and other souvenir items for loved ones. The shop also has art books, silk scarves, jewelry or designer items based on the works of Egon, Schiele, Gustav and many other artists featured in the museum.



Located in Museumsplatz 1, A-1070 Wien, this museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m, on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m to 9:00 p.m and is closed on Tuesdays. The admission price is only 9 Euros and the admissions with reductions are priced at 5.5 Euros.
