Kunsthaus Wien
"The flat floor is an invention of the architects. It fits engines, not human beings." – Hundertwasser. This famous statement by the artist describes all it can about Kunsthaus Wien. A landmark where all the works by the famous artist Hundertwasser are up for display and permanent exhibition, the very architecture of the building speaks volumes about the theme and the scheme of the museum.
The building was renovated in 1989, where the special effects were added to it by the artist Hundertwasser himself. Uneven floors, indoor trees and other such factors – all prove that the building for the museum is totally and completely adhering to the values and ideas of the notable artist. The total exhibition space is around 4000 square feet and is divided into different sections for exhibitions by different artists, apart from those by Hundertwasser. A revolutionary in thought and action, Hundertwasser changed the painting scenario back then to the boldly colored paintings.
The museum also houses exhibitions of paintings by other artists like David LaChapelle's, Pierre & Gilles' and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Complete with a small shop and a café with natural surroundings, the Kunsthaus Wien symbolizes the nature and art corresponding with the humanness.
For anyone with like minded ideas, a visit to the museum -- Kunsthaus Wien – is a must. After all, not many are daring enough to defy the traditions and develop ones of their own!
