Be it Germans, Italians or Russians: Most visitors are captivated by the special charme that Vienna spreads during these days. Be it the "Christkindlmarkt" on the Rathausplatz, the amazing christmas decoration or simply one of the countless "Punschhütten" - Vienna offers every visitor a unique experience during Christmas.
Scattered all around the city you can find countless places where to enjoy a cup of hot Glühwein or Punsch. Be aware that most of these places charge quite a lot. A short visit may turn into an expensive evening. Most locals prefer to visit spots such as Schönbrunn as they claim that quality and flair are superior to tourist hotspots such as the main Christkindlmarkt at Rathausplatz.
Christmas tourism has become a major factor for the Viennese Economy. Approximately 350 million euro were generated throughout the last December and this figure is expected to rise in future years.
