A friend advised me not to consume salads in Croatia because the lettuce may not be properly washed. I was also told to eat deep sea fishes only and avoid harbor fishes. Are these true? I will be leaving tomorrow for Croatia. Thank you. Zach

Do not worry about the salads in Croatia. It is one of my favorite parts of every meal I ate and did not encounter any problems. Neither did I hear any complaints about it during my stay. Regarding the harbor fish, I am not certain regarding that issue. Deep sea fish is probably cleaner between the two. Even though I am not a regular fish consumer, I know for a fact that a large amount of fishes served in most places are fresh because they are purchased from the market on a daily basis. I did try the squid and it has always been fine nonetheless. That is not true. The salads are clean, healthy, and fresh. You need not worry about the fish, as previously stated, most of it are purchased on a daily basis from the market so they are guaranteed fresh. Enjoy your meals and do not worry!
