Five years ago, when it had been renovated after the war, my husband and I stayed at Hotel Splendid. The hotel staff was friendly and the hotel was nice. We just don’t like the fact that it was somehow located out of Dubrovnik, the expensive taxi fares and the last bus was a bit earlier than usual. By the way, those things had nothing to do with Hotel Splendid. In fact, you’ll get your money’s worth and more in that hotel. Dubrovnik is amazing and it comes alive when the sun sets. During the day, it gets too hot. But it is wondrous sitting out on the Stradun, a drink in hand, watching the world and your significant other. It was relaxing watching the locals--the young and the old ones gossip, drink, and marvel at their joyful surroundings.
