To get a license to drive a boat in Phuket, you must apply  at the Phuket Marine Office at Ao Makham and take with you the following requirements: your passport and a letter from the embassy/consulate verifying that the passport is genuine, accurate and valid, three two-inch photos, a medical certificate  stating that you are physically fit to  be a skipper of a boat, a certification that you have at least two years experience as a skipper of a boat, an existing master's certificate issued in another country.  There is a strong possibility that they will give you a license even if you do not take the local licensure test however, they might also ask you to take the licensure test. It is advisable that you bring an interpreter if requested, as the test forms are all in Thai.
