Yes there are several nice festivals in the Maldives. However the problem is that these festivals are celebrated mainly on the large islands such as Male and not in the resorts which is of course where most of the tourists are staying at.

I have made a list of all the major festivals in the Maldives and which is as follows:

1) Eid-Ul-Adha - This Maldivian festival is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice. This is one of the largest festivals in the Maldives and it is celebrated n the 10th day of Thul Hijjah, according to the Muslim calendar.

2) Kuda Eid - This festival marks the end of Ramadan and is also known as Fithru Eid.

3) National Day of the Maldives - This important festival in the Maldives celebrates the defeat of the Portuguese in 1597.

4) Independence Day - The British used to interfere with local politics and the independence day celebrates the fact that this was ended.
