Do native girls from Phuket also work in the bars?

Over the years that I have lived and worked in Phuket I have met plenty of Phuket bar girls in many different Patong beer bars. But most of the girls that work in the bars tend to come from the Isaan region of Thailand or from the North of Thailand. From the hundreds of girls who I have met this way, I think that I only ever once met a native girl of Phuket who was working in these bars.

I think that a lot has to do with the fact that many local Phuket girls are Muslim and also that their family lives in the area so it would be a big disgrace for the entire family and community if they were to work in the girly bars in Phuket.
