Is the internet censored in Thailand?

Well I would not say that the internet is fully censored in Thailand but I would say that the internet is partly censored in Thailand. The authorities do have long lists of websites which they give to Thai internet service providers which in turn block these websites for access by internet users in Thailand. The main type of websites which are blocked and thus censored in Thailand are sex and gambling websites as both gambling and pornography are illegal in Thailand. They have of course been unable to block all sex and gambling sites but many of the most popular sites have been blocked in Thailand. There are ways around it as you could use proxy servers for example but I am not sure if the average Thai internet user knows how to work with proxy servers.

Youtube was for a while also blocked by the government as it had some clips on there which were insulting to the Thai King. Other websites which have put the King of Thailand in a bad light are also frequently blocked by Thai internet service providers on order of the relevant Thai government office.
