If you go swimming in Kata Beach during the high season which is from November until April then the swimming conditions in Kata Beach are pretty good. However during the rainy season which falls during the low season, the swimming conditions in Kata Beach can be dangerous and tourists and locals do drown every year in Kata during the rainy season. Normally it is the case with people who are not strong swimmers which is really needed as there can be strong undercurrents.
