Family accommodation for five for 2 weeks in Phuket?

Hi guys. I have just returned from Phuket and planning my next trip with my teenage kids. What place among the three places (Patong, Karon or Kata) that are close to beaches where I can bring them with me? I am planning to stay there for 2-5 weeks. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

We are planning to go in April and have a problem of fitting the five of us in one room. I have to book two rooms in most places we want to stay. We found the nicest place at the Holiday Inn, which has interconnecting Pool View Studio rooms where the girls are fascinated. It cost about $3000 for both rooms including the daily breakfast and taxes for 10 nights. Not cheap, but we were happy considering it is rated a 5 star. Hope this will help you a little bit.

We are a family of five, and have booked the Kata Palm Resort in May. They have a superior room, which is like a bedroom and living room set up with a bed in it, and you can also ask for an extra bed without any problem. That time there were no people because May is an off-season. The cost for everything including breakfast is approximately $2500 for four nights. This is another possibility for you.

I have researched and emailed for 7 months now. Apart from Laguna, I found nowhere that would fit 5 people in one room. Yes, it is very expensive to get two rooms and they will not guarantee you to have connecting rooms. The area is 10 minutes walk to the beach. Good luck.

I have a friend with 5 members who are coming with us to Phuket. I booked a family room for them- it has 2 bedrooms and a living room at Kata Country House. It is high season and the cost is about 3,500 THB per night (including breakfast). You will probably get a better deal since you will stay there for 2 weeks. This is our first time there and I will tell you more about the family room after we come back.

You could check out the Swiss Palm Beach Resort. They have apartments with living rooms, dining rooms, kitchen and 2 separate bedrooms upstairs. It is about 5 minutes straight down the road from the quieter North ends of Patong Beach. If you are interested, you can drop an email for more recommendations of similar style and budget oriented places. Kata Country house has a similar price, style and closer to shopping malls and restaurants, but Swiss Palm Beach has a quit atmosphere. Also, you can also add an extra bed to both places but it depends on their availability at the time that you are planning to stay.

We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. Last year, we stayed in Merlin Beach Resort and they have interconnecting rooms. It was great – particularly the fantastic pools. We are going back to Phuket in July. This time I am planning to stay in Hoduang Bel Air Panwa just for a change. They have 2 and 3 bedroom apartments that look really great and also quiet reasonable prices. I am not too sure about the location. Does anyone know anything about this resort? It looks good in their website.

One travel agent told us that it would cost $6, 500 to stay in Movenpick for 10 nights with 5 members of the family (2 adults and 3 children). We decided to go to a different travel agent and got 10 nights including breakfast at the Horizon Karon Beach Resort, 4 nights at Holiday Inn Silom Bangkok for $1, 500 = 14nights. My sister and her husband who have no children will be with us and decided to book our youngest son under them. A lot of resorts that I had emailed directly were charging adult prices for our 12 year old child.

I just have one quick remark to add as I believe the others have given you solid advice. Instead of staying at a resort or hotel, why not consider renting a holiday house for the duration of your holiday in Phuket as the cost might actually end up cheaper then what you would pay for hotel accommodation in Phuket for a family of 5. Some of the holiday houses in Phuket are rather nice and offer facilities such as private or shared swimming pools.
