There are about 15 museums in Linz / Austria.
I recommend visitin the Ars Electronica Center (AEC). It's a museum of the future which shows current projects and issues at the interface of art, technology and society. Opening hours are: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 9 am. to 5 pm; Thursday 9 am. to 9 pm; Saturday, Sunday 10 am. to 6 pm; Closed on Mondays (except on holidays)

I also enjoyed the Lentos museum of Modern art. It shows modern and contemporary art and has one of the most important collections of modern and contemporary art in Austria. Opening hours are: Tuesday/Wednesday 10 am. to 6 pm; Thursday 10 am. to 9 pm; Friday/Saturday/Sunday 10 am. to 6 pm; Monday closed
