Is Phuket or Khao Lak a nicer travel destination?

I would like to start of by mentioned that both these Thai holiday destinations are very popular although Phuket is more well known and established and Khao Lak has only been gaining popularity and reputation over the last decade or so.

Actually Phuket and Khao Lak are located very near to each other and tourists visiting Khao Lak will normally fly into Phuket International Airport and will then continue via car or bus to their final destination in Khao Lak which is located on the mainland of Thailand.

Both Khao Lak and Phuket have beautiful beaches but Phuket is generally more developed. So this is why I prefer Khao Lak over Phuket as a travel destination. However if you want to go clubbing and go to a go go bars then Phuket is the best place to be as you won't find such nightlife venues in Khao Lak. Also the variety and selection of restaurants and shopping venues is considerably smaller in Khao Lak when compared to whats available in Phuket.
