Yes many western holidays are celebrated in Thailand but obviously not all of them. Some of these western holidays have actually become official Thai public holidays and this includes for example our New Years eve. Other holidays like valentines day are widely celebrated in Thailand by both local Thai residents as well as among tourists as well as expats living in Thailand. Some special holidays such as St Paddys day are celebrated in Irish pubs throughout Thailand but almost no Thai people will have ever heard of it.
Christmas for example is celebrated by both Thai people and expats however Thai people will not know the real meaning behind Christmas and just celebrate the whole Santa Claus and giving gifts idea.
